INFORMATION and FAQ's
If you have specific questions, please don't hesitate to email or
telephone to ask them; below are some Frequently Asked
Questions.
WHAT IS A
FACIAL PROSTHESIS?
 A facial prosthesis also called
anaplastology, is an artificial custom made substitute for a missing or
malformed part of the face due to cancer, trauma or birth
defect. It provides an alternative when surgical reconstruction is
not an option. A prosthesis helps to protect and cover exposed cavities
and tissue and restores appearance. This device is made out of silicone
and then colored to match the color of the skin.
It is attached
daily with a special adhesive or in rare cases implant retention is
necessary.
HOW LONG DOES
IT TAKE?
 It depends on
each individual case. In the first consultation the work needed is
assessed, and an impression will be taken as well as photographs of the
missing part. A sculpture will then be made. After fitting the prosthetic
if no adjustments are necessary, it is then colored to match the skin of
the individual, this must be done with the patient present.
SIDE
EFFECTS
 Since the prosthesis
is placed outside body, it has no impact or reaction to it, these
materials in fact help preserve moisture and prevent dust and other
environmental particles from entering the body.
COST
 We
will do our best to work with each individual client based on
their personal
situation. |
